CEM was founded in Mexico City in 1973, and started its operations in Guadalajara in 1989, with excellent results that permitted this institution to move to the southern part of the city within four years. The location of CEM is ideal to develop and environment of peace and harmony which enables the students to enjoy our natural scenes while they study, because the school is isolated from busy streets and city noise and it is totally immersed in an ecological environment.

Centro Escolar México distinguishes itself by providing our students an education in an environment of understanding and harmony that encourages free expression with respect for universal values. CEM teaches self-knowledge and the development of emotional intelligence. The school helps the students develop research methods and ways to defend, explain and present their projects. Although CEM is a traditional school, teachers are aware that students are individuals. Therefore we closely monitor each student’s progress so the student can improve and build on skills and knowledge, competing against himself/herself rather than being compared to other students. CEM guides every student in an affirmative way to help them perceive themselves positively and when they are very young, they can begin to realize their individual attributes so they can build and improve them.

CEM has a Psychological Department for evaluating potential students and personnel; to offer orientation and support to parents whenever it is needed so parents can be notified as soon as possible about of any concerns, meet with teachers and staff to plan a program to help their child.
